Savino “Sal” Orlando Cavaliere of Winters, Ca passed on May 24th , 2019, at the age of 97. Born on Nov 22, 1922, in Verbicaro, Italy, to Ludovico Cavaliere, and Biagina Cirimele, the first of 3 siblings. He spent his childhood in Italy and emigrated to San Francisco in 1946, after WW2. After learning english, he attended UC Berkeley, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. In 1953 he was wed to his wife of 65 years, Olga. Sal worked in accounting and small businesses in SF. In 1975 they moved to Winters, Ca, where he owned Butler Bookkeeping, working there till retirement.
He enjoyed Winters and the community so much that he retired there. Was particularly proud of his homemade wine and shared it with friends whenever he could. His passion for soccer was unlimited, especially watching his “Napoli” team every Sunday afternoon. An avid history buff, with fishing and gardening filling his days.
Always the patriarch of the family and his love and caring went beyond his immediate family to friends and extended family, never forgetting a birthdate or anniversary and taking the responsibility for the hard decisions to do the right thing and never the easy way.
Survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Olga, two sons Ludwig and Ivan, their spouses Maria and Lamia, and grandchildren Vincent, Paolo, Gabriele, Dario and Alessio.
Preceded by his brother Orlando, and sister Maria.
Services will be at Saint Anthony’s Church in Winters, 511 Main St. on:
-Wednesday, June 5th: Viewing from 5:00 to 7:00 PM with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 PM.
-Thursday, June 6th: Funeral Mass at 11 am. Interment will follow immediately the Mass, at Winters Cemetery, followed by a light lunch / refreshment at Saint Anthony’s adjacent hall.
