Raola Dawn (Butler) Felker "Rae" was born in Perry, Illinois on February 14, 1939. She passed on her 84th birthday on Valentines Day 2023.
Rae spent most of her life in central Illinois, two decades in Florida, and the last 18 years in Sacramento, California.
Rae was valedictorian of Mt. Sterling Community High School in 1957. She spent most of her career as a legal secretary in Illinois and in Florida. In a 1984 letter of reference, a former employer wrote that Raola “was known as the most competent legal secretary in the Springfield area.” She enjoyed interacting with clients and attorneys.
Rae enjoyed traveling, time at the beach, and birdwatching. She especially enjoyed her dogs, Sunni, Misty and Reggie. Reggie survives her. An avid basketball fan, she supported both the Sacramento Kings and the Golden State Warriors.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ray and Dorothy Butler, brothers Bruce and Kent and sister-in-law Marge.
Rae is survived by her loving son Brent, daughter-in-law Debbie, and granddaughter Allison as well as sister-in-law Collette, and nieces and nephews Kelli, Kyle, Kevin, Kevin, Jana, Lori, Lyle and Lynn.
She will be buried at the Hersman Cemetery in Brown County Illinois. Services will be held in early June.
