Patricia Lynn Cox

Patricia ‘Patty’ Lynn Cox, peacefully passed away in the early hours of February 27, 2026, following her courageous battle with Valley Fever.

Patty was born on August 16, 1965, to Jack and Barbara Thomas, and was a lifelong resident of Winters. Throughout her youth she was active in band, sports, and 4-H, and as an adult she was a leader in many community fundraising efforts for schools, the church, and WHS Grad Nite activities. During the summer months, she was instrumental in running the local swim team. Patty recently retired from UC Davis after 26 years of service where she formed many cherished friendships.

Patty dedicated her life to her family. Her love, kindness, compassion and strength are something that will remain with us always. She now joins her father, Jack, in heaven, tending their garden together once again. She is survived by her husband, David Cox, who had the honor and privilege of being married to Patty for almost 38 years, their children, Zachary and Cassandra Cox, and her stepdaughter, Nicole Cox. She is also lovingly remembered by her mother, Barbara Thomas, and siblings, Susie (Curtis) Stocking, Sally Ivory, Nancy McLaughlin, Debbie (Ben) Geerts, John (Barb) Thomas and many nieces and nephews.

The family invites you to join us for Mass and celebration of Patty’s life on March 26, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Winters, immediately followed by a luncheon reception at the Parish Hall.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Patty’s name to the UC Davis, Division of Infectious Diseases, whose care supported her throughout her illness (Infectious Diseases Research Fund).
