Nancy Verhage

June 8, 1930 — August 2, 2019

Nancy “Nanny” Verhage, 89, passed away peacefully in Davis from complications of Alzheimer’s. She was born and raised in Sheboygan, Wis., where she met and married Roger “Buck” Verhage. She attended Briarcliff Junior College in New York. Following Buck’s military service they settled in Arcadia, where they raised their family. Ten years ago they moved to Davis to be near helping family.

Nanny was a leader and volunteer in Brownies, Girl Scouts, Candy Stripers, Children’s Home Society, Junior League, National Charity League, and PTA. She also served and an Ordained Deacon for the Presbyterian Church.

We remember Nanny as a loving, kind, faithful and considerate person who gave her all while fully enjoying her life, and always with her beaming smile shining out on the world.

The love of her life was her family who deeply loved her back as the world’s best wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Buck; daughters Connie (Joe) and Victoria (John); son John (Patricia); and grandchildren Mike, Amber, Alex, Jake, Juliana and Lindy.

Nanny’s memorial will be in the fall at the Sacramento Valley VA National Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to Yolo Hospice or Davis Community Presbyterian Church.
