Dr. Irías served in the U.S. Army as a physician, became board certified as a pediatric endocrinologist, and taught at U.C. Davis School of Medicine for several years. In 1976 the family moved from Davis to San Francisco, and Dr. Irías practiced at Children’s Hospital in Oakland until he retired. After retirement from Children’s, Dr. Irías obtained California teaching credentials and taught in Bay Area schools including at Town School for Boys, where he taught junior high school Latin. Dr. Irías loved language, literature, history, music, gardening, and books.
