Judy K. Dyke passed away peacefully on May 29, 2025, in Vacaville, California, just days before her 77th birthday. Born June 5, 1948, in Stockton, California, she was the beloved daughter of Raymond “Shorty” Dyke and Maxine Beam Dyke.
Judy spent her formative years in Tracy, California, where she attended a one-room schoolhouse and continued her education in Tracy public schools graduating high school with the Class of 1966. Her love of learning never waned—she pursued higher education at San Jose State University, Providence College of Nursing (graduating magna cum laude), Holy Names University, UCSF, UCSD, and UC Berkeley. Judy earned degrees and licensures of BSN, RN, MSN, NP, and was a PhD candidate in Nursing.
Her distinguished nursing career spanned over five decades. Judy worked as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner in hospitals, private organizations, and with the Veterans Administration in California, always devoted to compassionate care. She retired from Kaiser Permanente in 2016. For several years she traveled, working globally with Syva Corporation, managing employee health programs at international sites.
A gifted vocalist and leader, Judy was a dedicated member of Sweet Adelines International for nearly 45 years. She sang Lead—and occasionally Tenor—with the San Jose Chorus, later the Bay Area Showcase Chorus (BASC), and San Francisco Sound Wave, performing in multiple quartets as well. Her leadership included roles as President and later Team Coordinator of BASC, as well as Regent and numerous other positions within Region 12. Judy’s musical legacy and mentorship extended across the Sweet Adelines community, both locally and internationally. She loved traveling to compete and reconnect with her many friends and former chorus mates around the world through Sweet Adelines.
Judy was also a lifelong member of The International Order of Rainbow for Girls, serving as Grand Representative to Oregon in 1968–69 and Worthy Advisor of Tracy Assembly No. 32. Her enduring friendships formed through the Dollies continued into recent years, as the Rainbow Girls still gathered every few months.
Judy is survived by her beloved spouse, Trish McCauley; nieces Lori Guerrieri (Michael) and Lynette Mansfield; nephew Lane Dyke (Bernadette); great-niece Lauren Mansfield, great-nephews Michael Guerrieri (Tiffany), Andrew Guerrieri (Brian Trotter), and Justin Dyke; and great-grandniece Anna Marie Guerrieri. She was predeceased by her brother, Larry Dyke, in 2021 (Elizabeth in 2020).
Judy’s final moments were spent in the company of her cherished poodles and wrapped in one of her mother’s handmade quilts—comforted by love and legacy.
A private burial will be held for the family only. A public Celebration of Life will be announced later this year. Judy wanted a party with bright colours and sharing of good memories.
In honor of Judy’s lifelong dedication to helping others and singing 4-part a capella harmony, memorial donations may be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital or the Bay Area Showcase Chorus Angel Fund.
