Jill Winkenhofer Frommelt

January 21, 1938 — August 28, 2022

Jill Winkenhofer Frommelt peacefully passed away at her home in Woodland on Sunday, August 28, 2022, at the age of 84. Jill was born to Helen and Karl Winkenhofer on January 21, 1938, in Woodland, California and enjoyed a happy childhood growing up on Willow Oak Farm with her sister Karla.

Jill began her education in a two-room schoolhouse at Willow Oak School.  She graduated from Woodland High School in 1956 and attended UC Berkely for 2 years.  After attending secretarial school, she obtained her first job with the State Treasurer’s office in Sacramento.  For many years she was the office manager of the family’s construction business.  Thereafter, she was an administrative assistant at Yuba College in Woodland. She finished her career in the Fish & Wildlife Dept at UC Davis.

Jill met Robert Frommelt through mutual friends and they were married in 1960. Building their family home on a portion of Willow Oak Farm, together they raised their two daughters, Heidi and Julie. The Frommelt home was always open and welcoming to family and friends.

Jill was involved in various community organizations, including Omega Nu and PEO. She was a lifetime member of Saint Luke’s Episcopal Church and served on the altar guild for many years. Jill was an avid card player and belonged to numerous Bridge and Hand & Foot groups that she enjoyed. Playing golf at the Yolo Fliers’ Club was another of her activities.  Jill thoroughly enjoyed reading and travelling.  She spent much of her time meticulously tending to her home garden.  The abundance of flowers she raised were happily shared with her friends and loved ones.  Jill’s infectious sense of humor brightened the lives of her many friends and family.

Jill is survived by her daughter Heidi Potter and her husband Neal, and grandchildren Allison, Ross, and Lindsey; by her daughter Julie Payne and her husband Bill, and grandchildren Ryan and Taylor. Other survivors include her sister and best friend Karla Knapp and husband Edward, niece Mimi Hume and husband Michael, niece-in-law Laura Gould, nephew Bob Frommelt and wife Susan, and nephew Tom Frommelt and Geri Kothe.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, brother-in-law Don Frommelt, sisters-in-law Pauline Frommelt and Sharon Frommelt, and nephew John Woolsey.

The family is grateful for the devoted care provided by Odette Talei during her illness.
