Janice Helene Lee passed away on May 23, 2025 at the Vacaville Kaiser Medical Center from cardiovascular disease. Janice was born April 4,1946 in San Francisco, where she lived most of her life. She was the loving daughter of Helen and Martin Lee, and sister to Maureen, all of whom have predeceased her.
Janice grew up where Chinatown meets Russian and Nob Hills, on Taylor Street in San Francisco, a half block from her beloved grandmother, aunt, uncle and cousins. Even late in life, she could recall with great fondness delicious family dinners cooked with love by her “Paw-Paw,” the kitchen filled with animated chatter of family members talking in rapid Cantonese and English. She attended St. Mary’s Chinese Day School and Notre Dame des Victoires High School, and graduated with a Bachelor’s in Social Welfare in 1970 from San Francisco State University. She subsequently worked for over 25 years in the banking industry, rising through the ranks from a teller to a Loan Support Specialist. Along the way, she enjoyed going out to eat, traveling, and shopping with good friends. Janice had a deep and passionate love for animals, having cared for several dogs and many cats with great dedication and tenderness. She proudly showed her beautiful cats, winning many awards over the years.
In the last year of her life, she moved to Davis where she was cared for with great diligence and devotion by her family and the wonderful staff at Carlton Senior Living. She will be deeply missed by her family and her good friends, Linda, Alda and Dixie. There will be a private interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Janice’s name to the SPCA, one of her favorite animal charities.
