Janice L (Wimmer) Corbett passed away peacefully at home in Davis, CA, on April 29, 2018 at the age of 47, after a year-long struggle with cancer. Mourning her passing are her sons, Anthony and Dominic Corbett; husband, Larry Corbett; parents, Herb and Christine Wimmer of Winters; sister and brother-in-law, Nancy (Wimmer) and Steve Veatch of Cottonwood; niece and husband, Katie (Veatch) and Bobby Collins of Sacramento; nephew, Ensign Cody Veatch, USN; uncles and aunts, Tony and Janet (Wimmer) Baiocchi and Chris and Paula Wimmer; sister-in-law and husband, Lisa (Corbett) and Jim Bouchard; brother-in-law and wife, Tim and Susan Corbett; cousins, nieces and nephews; and a multitude of friends and colleagues, both locally and around the world.
Janice was born on February 23, 1971 in San Pablo, CA to Herb and Christine Wimmer. She was a long time resident of Davis where she lived since leaving her childhood home in Pinole, CA at the age of 18. She graduated from the University of California at Davis in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural and Managerial Economics and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. In 2005, she earned a Master of Business Administration with High Honors from Golden Gate University.
Janice began her career in 1995, working for the Institute for Fiduciary Education and later for Barclays Global Investors but soon found her way back to UC Davis. During her time as a student there, she had become immersed in campus activities, serving on the Picnic Day Board, Dean’s Student Advisory Committee in the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, as well as many others, and it was her dream to someday return to work for the campus she loved. In 2003, Janice began work for the Cal Aggie Alumni Association (CAAA), starting as the Membership Manager, and rising to Associate Executive Director, with time as Interim Executive Director. Corbett was actively recruited to become the Associated Students of UC Davis’ (ASUCD) Business Manager in 2013 and graciously accepted the offer; she has had the privilege to serve the students and University in this capacity over the past five years.
