Jane Estremera passed peacefully, in her home, on April 11, 2025 at the age of 97. Throughout the last few months, a steady flow of family and friends provided comfort and support.
Jane was born in Sacramento, CA on February 25, 1928. Her parents were Fernando Cano Fernandez and Feliciana Golzarri Abaroa, both immigrants from Spain. She was a graduate of St. Joseph’s academy and enjoyed working at Bank of America in her early 20’s. Jane met her husband, Enrique (Henry) Estremera, a student at the University of CA Davis, from Puerto Rico, at a Catholic social group dance under the Cathedral of the Blessed Heart, in Sacramento.
Jane was extremely proud of her Basque heritage, from her mother’s side, and attended Basque festivals with her husband, Enrique. Jane had a passion for art and music. She was a graceful dancer and loved opera. She also enjoyed gardening, her many fruit trees and observing the beauty of the seasons. She was an accomplished self-taught artist and painted landscape scenes.
Jane is survived by her children, Rosa Estremera of Elk Grove, Mark Estremera of Davis (Cathy) and Elisa Estremera of Livermore. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Vincent (Cynthia Pacheco), Jennifer (Francis Gantos), Allyce (John Lynch) and Matthew (Raquel).
A Mass to celebrate her life will be held at St. James Catholic Church in Davis, on Tuesday, April 29, at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you contribute to a fund of your choice.
