Helen McEnroe

February 29, 1920 — November 26, 2007

Helen Smith McEnroe of Davis CA died peacefully on November 26, 2007 in the company of her daughters. Born in Hartford, Connecticut on February 29, 1920 she graduated from St. Josephs College in Hartford and later studied drama at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut. In June of 2000 she moved to Davis to be closer to her children in northern California. In the last year she lived in Astoria Vista, where she received excellent care and support from the facilitys loving staff. She was preceded in death by her husband John B. McEnroe, Jr. her husband of 30 years. She is survived by her seven children, nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren: John B. McEnroe III, Ann Arbor MI, his son Sean McEnroe, daughter Beth Landry and her two children Brenna and Colin also of Michigan, Mary Bryan (Bob) of Morristown N.J and her daughter Leigh Spielvogel of Jersey City, Meg Stone of Sonoma, CA and her son Christopher Stone of NY, NY, Clare Lindquist (Jerry) and her son Mike of San Raphael, CA, Elizabeth (Jay) Feick, of Woodland, CA and her son Will Thomson, Atlanta GA, Ellen (Devon) Zagory and her daughter and grandson Jenny and Brett Zagory, Davis, CA and Nancy McEnroe (Bob Phelps) and her two daughters Anne and Liz Phelps of Piedmont CA. She is also survived by her siblings, Elizabeth Duguid of Livingston, NJ, George Smith of North Andover, MA and Geraldine Cook of Wyomissing PA and their many children and grandchildren. Friends of the family are invited to a Mass of the Resurrection and following reception that will be held at Saint James Church on Monday, December 3, 2007 starting 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation may be sent to Yolo Hospice, PO Box 1014, Davis CA, 95617 or to Saint James School 1275 B St., Davis.
