Gloria Regan, of Davis, California peacefully passed away on Tuesday, June 30th. She was 93 years young. She was a cherished mother, grandmother,and friend. She will be deeply missed.
Gloria was born in Shawnee, OK to Joe and Bessie Nichols. They moved west when she was a young girl and she spent most of her childhood in northwestern Oregon. Gloria moved to San Francisco to work as a pharmaceutical detailer. She quickly met roommates that became lifelong friends. They enjoyed hosting dinner parties, and a frequent guest, Don Regan, eventually became her husband. They married on June 7, 1958.They were blessed with four children. Her work outside of the home included being a para-professional at St. Emydius elementary school and a secretary for Family Life Ministries in the Arch Diocese of SF. But, her favorite job was being a word processor and trainer for the Attorney General's Office of California. She was especially proud to be on the team that automated the office, supporting staff in the transition from paper to electronic. In her free time, Gloria enjoyed creating flower arrangements and water color paintings. She was an eternal optimist and her positivity and joy was contagious.
Gloria is survived by her daughter Donna Regan, her son Dan Regan and his wife Brigette, daughter Karen Sprague and her husband Robert, grandchildren Alex, Max, and Hunter Sprague, and daughter Katie Byrd and husband Duane. She was preceded in death by her devoted and loving husband, Don Regan.
A Catholic funeral mass will be held at St. James on Friday, July 10th at 10:00am. There will be a viewing and rosary service on the evening of Thursday,July 9th at Smith Funeral Home in Davis. Viewing: 6:00 pm, Rosary: 7:00pm. In lieu of flowers, a donation to St. Vincent de Paul Society would be a meaningful tribute to Gloria's memory.
