Geoffrey Hal Taylor

February 13, 1950 — May 29, 2025

Geoffrey was born to Alfred Curtis and Barbara Taylor in San Francisco, California. He was the eldest of two children, with a younger brother, Vigors. Geoffrey was a voracious reader in his youth and was knowledgeable on almost any topic, but especially on subjects related to history and geography. In high school he studied in England. After he graduated high school, he pursued his passion for traveling and spent a great deal of time in India and often shared stories of his adventures in Asia, Europe, and South America.

He married the love of his life, Maritza Taylor, in Maracaibo, Venezuela, which introduced him to a large Catholic family. They were blessed with a daughter, Maria Shasta Taylor.

Geoffrey had a great deal of respect for Native American culture and spent time with the Shasta Tribe in Northern California. He became a Tee Pee enthusiast and loved painting Tee Pee poles and sharing his passion for Tee Pees with others. He was creative and loved having instruments in the home, including marimbas, mbiras, rattles, and drums. He loved to cook any chance he got and was especially fond of cooking Indian and Mexican food. He loved to Kayak and enjoyed family kayaking trips in Lake Tahoe and Sausalito.

Geoffrey was a Tow Driver for 30 years for Johnny’s Towing Service in Davis, and he serviced areas from Northern California to the Bay Area. He was highly regarded in his field and was called specifically for difficult accidents. In his retirement, he finally got some much-needed rest as well as hosting international students from Japan and China, which he enjoyed immensely.

Geoffrey is survived by his daughter Maria Shasta Taylor, nephews Christopher and Travis, and nieces Maria, Marel, and Derlina.

Geoffrey was a lovingly eccentric human being who always made life interesting. He found purpose and joy in caring for his family and sharing his creative projects with others.

Geoffrey’s family and friends will deeply miss his presence but find comfort in the memories of his wonderfully unique spirit.

May he rest in eternal peace.
