Eugenia Hackaray

It is with great sadness; the family announces that Eugenia passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 2nd 2022.

She will be greatly missed by her children, Juan and Francisca, and grandchildren, Tamara, Christopher, Serena, and Alexandra.

Eugenia was born in Punta Arenas, Chile. When she was a young girl, her family moved to Santiago. Then, as an adult, she moved to Canada with her own family, where she lived in Labrador City and Ottawa, and later in Nanaimo. Wherever she lived, because of her positive outlook on life, Eugenia was always able to make great and lasting friendships. For the last few years of her life, she chose to live close to her daughter in California.

As her friends and family are spread over three continents, a formal service will not be held. Instead, in keeping with Eugenia’s open-minded approach to life, friends and family may chose to remember her in their own way, and to honour her caring nature, a donation can be made to a charity of personal choice.
