Ellen F. Goldstene

September 13, 1935 — March 2, 2026

Longtime Davis resident E.F. “Pat” Goldstene passed away peacefully on March 2. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Pat spent her childhood living between Ohio and the Arizona desert before her family settled in Southern California.

Pat graduated from UCLA with a history degree and was pursuing an MA in library science at USC while also working at the Los Angeles Public Library when she met her future husband, Paul, on a blind date. They married in 1959 and celebrated their 60th anniversary before Paul’s passing in early 2020.

In 1971, they settled in Davis and raised three children. Pat enjoyed an active and engaged life in Davis, including owning The Sampler, where she taught various needlework techniques. After ten years in business, Pat returned to school and earned a second bachelor’s degree in textiles and design from UCD. She also worked at Gayle’s Books, earned a real estate license, and was involved for many years in local organizations, including Teddy ‘N Toy, Davis Flower Arrangers, Davis Needlework Group, the Yolo County Chapter of the Embroider’s Guild of America, and Yolo Reads.

Pat is survived by son James, daughter-in-law Jami, daughters Claire and Beth, and granddaughter Lily, all of whom already miss her vibrancy and wonderfully sardonic sense of humor.

The family invites people to join them for funeral services on Tuesday, March 10th at 1:00pm at the Davis Cemetery.
