Eileen Cardy Byrne, a Davis area resident for the past 65 years, died Jan. 7, 2010. Born on June 27, 1923, in Los Angeles, to William and Minnie Cardy, she was 86 years old.
A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, she was a homemaker and volunteer. Her hobbies included tole painting and square dancing. She also was an active member and secretary of a Model-A Ford Club. She sang in the choir at St. James Catholic Church for more than 50 years and was an active member and volunteer for the Davis Senior Center and the Davis Dynamos Walking Club.
She is survived by her children, Cheryl Rudd and Robert Byrne, along with five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, with a Rosary recited at 7 p.m. at Wiscombe Funeral Home, 116 D St. in downtown Davis. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at noon Wednesday, Jan. 13, at St. James Catholic Church, 1275 B St. in Davis. Interment will follow at the Davis Cemetery, 820 Pole Line Road.
