Dorothy Jean Dunning, age 92, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on June 12, 2008. She was born on June 1, 1916 in Elgin, North Dakota to Charles Gust Wachsman and Regina Augusta Alzner Wachsman. She married James Joseph Dunning on December 27, 1940 in Minneapolis, Minnesota; he preceded her in death on December 8, 1987.
Dorothy loved spending time with her family and friends, and living life to the fullest. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, cousin and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her children, Mary Jean Garofalo Parker (Frank) of Vacaville, California; Dorothy Jo Dunning of Tucson, Arizona; James Dunning Jr. of Davis, California; Bob Dunning (Shelley) of Davis, California and Patricia Dunning (Jimmy Block) of Sacramento, California; sister, Faith Beasley of Galt, California; brothers, Don Emch (Diane) of Hill City, South Dakota; Franklin Emch of Bellfield, South Dakota and Wayne Emch (Elsie) of Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada; 8 Grandchildren and 2 Great-Grandchildren.
A Rosary will be held on Friday, June 20, 2008 at 7:30 P.M. at St. James Catholic Church in Davis. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2008 at 9:00 A.M. at St. James Catholic Church. A private interment will be held at the Davis Cemetery. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. James School in Davis, California.
