Chris Erba, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully in Davis, California on August 8, 2024, at the age of 89. Chris is survived by her three children and five step children, as well as sixteen grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Erba, who passed away in 2013.
Chris was born on March 12, 1935, in Carlyle, Montana, to Michael “Jack” Rymer Jr. and Mary Louise Gonsioroski and was raised in the Pacific Northwest. In the 1950s, she moved to California, where she started her family. Her career at the UC Davis Vet School Clinic began in 1966 and spanned over 27 years. Starting as a receptionist, Chris later made significant contributions in medical records.
Chris also had a profound love for traveling and the performing arts, particularly The Phantom of the Opera. She and her husband embraced every opportunity to explore new destinations, starting with a memorable cruise to Hawaii and Tahiti shortly after her retirement. Chris had a strong appreciation for the theater and enjoyed attending performances with loved ones and friends as often as possible.
Chris was known for her candid and heartfelt opinions, always speaking her mind with honesty. She will be remembered for her love of dancing and her unwavering dedication to those she loved. Her commitment to family and friends was evident in everything she did. Chris will be deeply missed by her loved ones and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
A memorial service will be held at Chris’s home on September 22, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
