Charles "Chuck" Floyd Pope

January 14, 1943 — November 28, 2023

Charles “Chuck” Floyd Pope, born to William and Elizabeth Pope in Missoula, Montana on January 14, 1943, passed away, surrounded by family, on November 28, 2023. Chuck was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 34 years, Catherine Pope, with whom he had four children Jerry Pope, Sheri Boone, Susan Cristler, and Gary Pope. After the passing of Catherine, Chuck found love again and spent the last 19 years with his current wife, Gail Pope. They blended their families, creating an extended family that
included Gail's children, Tawna Aubachon and Holly (Michael) King. It also included eleven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. His family was a source of immense pride and joy for Chuck.

Chuck is survived by his wife Gail Pope, brother William (Genie) Pope, Jr, son Jerry (Heidi) Pope, daughter Sheri (Bruce) Boone, daughter Susan (Tony) Cristler, son Gary (Marci) Pope, brother-in-law James (Nancy) Hardee, sister-in-law Judy Hardee,
brother-in-law Bruce (Ingrid) Warren, sister-in-law Corrine (Craig) Burgi, mother-in-law Gloria Warren.

Throughout his life, Chuck was an active and dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, taking on various leadership roles that reflected his commitment to faith and community. He found fulfillment in service and connection with others, helping all who needed assistance, and delivering “Meals on Wheels” for over 15 years.

Chuck's true passion, however, lay in anything with an engine. Whether it was steam, electric, single-piston, or multi-piston, Chuck reveled in the intricate workings of machinery. His impressive collection of "Chugger" hit-and-miss engines, hot rods, motorcycles, and antique cars showcased his lifelong love affair with all things mechanical. For over 40 years, Chuck lived his passion as a mechanic for Heidrick Farms. He also shared his passion with others as a docent at the Hayes Truck Museum describing many of the vehicles he had restored.

The weekends spent with the Yolo Frontloaders at black powder rendezvous’ were some of his fondest. The camaraderie and friendships during these gatherings remained close to Chuck's heart until the end.

His involvement in the Model T club was another source of joy for Chuck. Here, he not only shared his vast knowledge but also relished the opportunity to learn from others who shared his passion.
