Barbara Mejia Perez passed away peacefully on January 25, 2026, surrounded by love and family, she was 82. She was laid to rest in a private ceremony at the VA cemetery in Dixon, CA.
Above all else, Barbara was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. She is survived by her husband Enrique (Tony) Perez Jr., Daughters Rachel (James) and Toni. Grandchildren, the joys of her life, Marcus (Shauny), Jessica (Patrick), Stefani, and Joshua. She cherished her great-grandchildren, Mikayla, Noah, Dominic, Kennedy, Kaelyn, Karter, Lucas and Ava as they were the loves of her life. Barbara leaves behind many sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, grand and great-nieces and nephews as well as many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her Mother, Jessie and her sister, Esther Valdez.
She was born on December 9, 1943, in Arizona, she was the beloved daughter of Jessie Mejia Herrera. She grew up in Woodland, CA after her Mother moved the family from Arizona. She went to school in Woodland but graduated from Norte Del Rio High School in North Sacramento in 1963. Just after graduation, she met and married her husband of 62 years, Enrique (Tony) Perez Jr.
Barbara lived many places in her life, but Vacaville was her home until her and Tony moved to Winters to live out their lives. She loved watching her Cowboy movies, especially John Wayne, and her Lifetime movies. Buying everyone presents and sneaking monetary treats to her Babies from the coin purse that never ran out of money.
She loved her “Girls” as she affectionately referred to Rachel and Toni, and loved to go out to eat, especially at the Olive Garden. She will be remembered for her kind heart, strength, laughter and her roaming adventures that she would embark on with her Sisters. Whether she was cooking family meals, cheering the grand and great-grandchildren from the sidelines, offering advice, sitting and sewing the blankets with her sisters and grandbabies, she made everyone around her feel loved and cared for.
Barbara firmly believed that if you were here, you were family. She is and will be deeply missed and forever loved.
Love you Momma
