Barbara Lombos

June 8, 1928 — January 31, 2009

Barbara Marie Faulkner Lombos, born June 8, 1928, in Red Bluff, California, died of a brain tumor on January 31, 2009 at her home in Rancho Yolo in Davis, CA.

Barbara attended Red Bluff Union High School, Dominican College in San Rafael, graduated from UCSF School of Nursing and obtained an advanced degree in Public Health from the University of Michigan. She worked for the Visiting Nurses Association in New York as well as for the Public Health Departments in San Francisco, Napa, and San Jose.

Barbara was a gifted artist who continued to sketch until recently. She was known to her family and friends as a Student who believed the world was an exciting place and wanted to understand it all, even learning to use a computer in her 70s.

Barbara was the second eldest of nine and was beloved by her siblings and their children who lovingly cared for her during the many weeks of her final illness.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Lombos of Sacramento, by her parents, Helen and Dr. James L. Faulkner of Red Bluff, California, by an infant sister of Red Bluff , by Patty Faulkner Innes of San Francisco, and by her brother, John E. Faulkner of Red Bluff.

Barbara is survived by four sisters and one brother: Catherine Faulkner Palmer of Davis, Helen Faulkner Schoelen and her husband Francis of Post Falls, Idaho, Jim Faulkner and his wife Carole of Davis, Nancy Faulkner Dyson and her husband Peter of Davis, and Susan Faulkner Joubert and her husband Ken of Coos Bay, Oregon.

Barbara received the Last Rites from the St. James Catholic Church in Davis.

Barbara is mourned by a large number of nieces and nephews and many, many friends.

At Barbaras request, there will be no service.
