With hearts full of love and immense sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved daughter and sister, Ava “bunny” Landry, age 20, who went home to be with our Lord on December 13, 2025 in San Leandro, California. Ava was born in Sacramento, California and lived in Woodland her entire life.
Though Ava faced multiple medical challenges from birth due to her rare condition she courageously fought through them so she could be present with us and be a blessing to this world. In spite of her health struggles, and through the grace of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Ava was a beautiful soul with a warm heart, a fighting spirit, and had an infectious giggle that could light up any room. She found joy in the simple and meaningful things in life—listening to her favorite music, taking long walks enjoying nature, sitting next to a fountain and watching water trickle down, swinging in her sensory room in a calm uninterrupted space, spending time in the pool with her brother, finding the best fidget toys to tinker with, watching her favorite DVDs (Tinkerbell & The Muppet’s) with her family, and just being cozy in the comfort of her familiar surroundings. These moments brought her peace, joy, and happiness and will forever remain treasured memories for all who loved her.
She shared unconditional love freely, offering warm smiles and a gentle presence that touched everyone she met. Ava was truly a blessing to her family, teaching all who knew her the purest form of love, patience, and grace. Her contribution to medical science has been shared with many and will continue to help children now and in the future, and that legacy will live on forever. Her innocent soul reflected a light that cannot be dimmed and we will forever be grateful to have been the privileged family God chose to place her with.
Now healed and whole, Ava has been joyfully received into Heaven by our Lord Jesus Christ and reunited with her beloved grandfather, Paul Landry, numerous aunts, uncles , and cousins who went before her. We take comfort in knowing she is surrounded by perfect love and everlasting peace.
She is survived by her devoted and loving parents, Shawn and Monica Landry; her cherished brother, Jonah Landry; her grandmother’s, Virginia Romo and Barbara Landry; her grandfather, Jose Romo; uncles, aunts, and cousins; who will carry her love in their hearts forever.
Though her time with us was far too short, her impact was immeasurable. Ava will always be remembered for her sweet demeanor, her joyful laugh, and the unconditional love she gave so freely. Ava was blessed since birth to have the best medical & therapeutic care provided by her team of physicians at UCDavis, UCSF, home health nurses, numerous organizations in Yolo County such as Alta Regional, CCS, Ca. Children’s Therapy Center, Music to Grow On, and the palliative team at George Mark Children’s Home in San Leandro where she flourished the last days of her life.
A private graveside service will be lead by St. James Catholic Church on December 18, 2025.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations in honor of Ava Landry to George Mark Children’s House: https://georgemark.org.
