Angel Lucero

December 4, 1943 — December 12, 2017

Thank you to our friends for all your prayers and support for Angel Benito Lucero (Ben), who completed his earthly journey, at home in Winters, California on December 11, 2017.

Angel Benito (Ben) Lucero was born on December 4th, 1943 in Los Angeles to native Los Angelinos, Benito Portillo Lucero and Mary Ramirez-Lucero. His childhood was spent in Boyle Heights and East L.A.  He was a gifted child graduating high school at Don Bosco Trade Institute in Rosemead, CA.

He studied at the University of San Diego and graduated from Mt. San Antonio College, Walnut, CA.

As a young man he was a barber, and worked for the California Highway Patrol fleet maintenance before moving to Sacramento in 1986 to work for the State, retiring from the California DMV headquarters in 2005 where he was a program analyst.

As all of you who knew him, he embraced his Native American spirituality, he was of Catholic faith, and most of all he loved his fellow man. Ben found everyone he met interesting and loved to talk and learn about everything. He had a passion for history, religion, philosophy, automobile mechanics, classic movies, and was gifted where everything he experienced in life he could remember in detail, and as we know, he could recite every detail for hours for those who would listen! Those hours will be missed.

Catholic services were held December 18-19th, 2017 at St Anthony's Church in Winters, CA.  Final internment will be scheduled for Spring 2018, where he will rest at Resurrection Cemetery in Rosemead, CA.

He is survived by his wife Maimu (Mai) Lucero, his siblings: Irene Reischel, Art Garcia, Ana Navarro, Fernando Carrasco, and Michael Carrasco, his children: Ben Lucero Jr, Rose Lucero Chadwick, Lisa Lucero Rivera, Delores Lara and Valinda Lucero, his grandchildren: Billy Chadwick, Lisa Chadwick, Jeffrey Chadwick, Linda Haveron, Christina Jones, Jade Meza-Lyon, Angelina Lara, Nico Kueneman, Trestan Kueneman, his 3 great grandsons: Ethan, Trestan Jr, and Troy Kuneman. He joins in eternal peace those who proceed him, his father, Benito Lucero, mother, Mary Carrasco, brother Bill Garcia, baby son Michael Lucero. Thank you to the many people who shared his happiness, joy, and acceptance, of all God gave him, and walked with him one day at a time.
