A resident of Davis since 1968, Sue attended the Davis public schools, graduating from Davis Senior High in 1978 where she was honored with the Bank of America award for her senior year achievements. She received an Associate of Arts from Sacramento City College and a Bachelor of Arts by Sonoma State University. She was trained in early childhood education. Sue enjoyed working with children and had a successful career working with preschool and kindergarten students in Davis.
In her late 30s, Sue experienced kidney failure and began the challenges of being a dialysis patient. Health challenges marked appreciably the last decade of her life as a kidney transplant was unsuccessful and rigors of dialysis also brought on heart problems. Susan, with all of the handicaps and roadblocks that were thrown at her, knew that in this life, she wasnt going to be able to be the lucky one and that things were at best very difficult. Our lives are structured around doing better for our familys and ourselves every day, Susans life revolved around surviving. Susan always did everything in her power to put other people first.
Susans life has taught her family that we are here for such a short time, really we are. Susan will be with us the rest of our lives as a constant reminder of what we have and what we have the ability to achieve, because she didnt have that choice.
Sue never got to know many of the things in life we take for granted everyday. The life experiences we get to have, she didnt. Her sacrifice has allowed her family to appreciate those things in a way that we hope makes up for her not getting to.
Susan enjoyed her pets and her family. She is survived by her parents, Gene and Pat of Davis; brothers Scott (Laura), Ken (Kristen), Kevin, Derek (Sangeeta); nieces Sydney, Kennedy, Natalya; nephews Sam and Maxwell; and numerous cousins and other family members.
A private burial service will take place at the Davis Cemetery on February 5th. Donations can be made to the National Kidney Foundation in Susans name.
I remember Susan's smile and laugh. My thoughts are with her family.

I remember playing with Susan when I lived on Colby Drive. She was a kind, caring person even when we were children. She always seemed to have a smile. I was very sorry to hear that she had such a difficult time the last years of her life. I am sure she had so much more to give. My thoughts and prayers are with all of the Hill family. Dear Mr. and Mrs. Hill, Scott, Kenny, Kevin and Derek, and extended family of Susan, I remember playing with Susan when we were children. I have always considered myself as quiet, but when I think of Susan, I remember that she also was very quiet, too! She grew up to be a good person, a good woman. She was artistic (I remember mostly her ceramic talent), clever, kind, calm, and helpful. She stayed close to her parents and others in her family. I can only think of positive qualities of her character. When I read the obituary from the funeral home, I realized how much we had in common-- our interest in the arts, in family, and in early childhood education. I was saddened to hear from my mother of her passing, as I did not know of her worsening condition. My deepest sympathies to you all. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

We loved our first babysitter, " Toosie". Susie always arrived with book bag in hand and that wonderful smile on her face. She truly loved children and they loved her in return. Our family joins you in your grief, Tom and Jacque Warriner
