Peggy Belenis Swisher a lifelong resident of Davis, passed peacefully at home, surrounded by family on October 13, 2014. Peggy was a loving mother and grandmother to her last breath
Peggy played an active role in the Davis business community for over sixty years; first helping run her family restaurants, and then as the Co-Owner and creator of Smooth as Silk. Her most cherished roles in life were those she shared with her family. She was a loving mother to her two daughters, Stella and Karen (Troy), loving wife to Robert (Bob) Swisher, who preceded her in death, and a blessed Noni to Jeff, Corey, Taylor, Demitria, Zach and Dylan. Peggy was a loving sister to Bessie, Evelyn, Helen, George, Cally and Nick, all who preceded her in death. Peggy was a magnificent aunt and great aunt to many; she opened her home and heart to all her nieces and nephews in her family, becoming a third parent to many. Peggy was our family's teacher as she taught us the power of love and how to live a life full of love. She always put her family first. She gave each in our family strength by supporting, nurturing and believing in all of us. Her teachings will be with us the rest of our lives. Through her examples, we learned that family must always stick together, in times of need, comfort and for holidays, especially Greek Easter and Thanksgiving
Peggy was a tremendous sports fan, watching the Kings, 49ers or Giants games became family events to share in her living room. Being together was what mattered most to Peggy. She taught us right from wrong, the value of a strong work ethic, how to live life with humor and grace, and how to laugh and have fun. We will forever remember her incredible laugh and the many times we laughed together until we cried. Thank you, God for giving us all so many years with this wonderful woman. Never will a day will go by that we do not think of her and smile
Funeral will be held at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church located at 600 Alhambra Blvd in Sacramento on Monday, October 20th at 12:30 pm, followed by a burial at the Davis Cemetery and a reception celebrating Peggy's life at the Symposium Restaurant in Davis.
