Mark Roland Smith, 53, of Davis, CA, died at home on Saturday, March 21, 2009 after a brief illness.
Mark was born in Portland, Oregon on March 28, 1955. In 1958 he moved to California with his parents, Roland and Meryllene and his sister Linda. He graduated from Davis High School in 1973 and then spent six years in the U.S. Air Force, serving in Texas, Mississippi, and Alaska as a Radar Technician.
After leaving the Air Force Mark attended Sacramento City College, graduating with Presidents Honors. He was employed as an Electronics Technician in the computer and electronic field for several years, later moving back to Davis, residing in the family home.
Mark loved computers, the outdoors, the family cabin, and his neighborhood where he took special pride in his gardening skills, chatting with neighbors and helping them with computer problems.
Mark is survived by his mother, Meryllene, his sister Linda Alexander of Anacortes, Washington, his nephew Casey Cagle and wife Becky of Forest Ranch, CA, his great niece Kaitlyn Cagle and great-great nephew, Taven Schaeffer, of Paradise, CA. Additionally, his Aunt Helen Gebhard, Aunt Mary Lou Gebhard, Uncle Norman and Aunt Joyce Smith will miss Mark, along with cousins in Oregon and California.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be sent to Sutter VNA & Hospice, 7300 Folsom Ave., Suite 100, Sacramento, CA 95826 or to the charity of your choice.
A graveside service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 28 at the Davis Cemetery, 820 Pole Line Road, Davis. All are welcome.
