Linda Dean

December 10, 1941 — June 28, 2011

Linda Ruth Dean born December 10, 1941 in Dallas, TX was the only child of James and Cleone Green. She grew up in the Dallas area and graduated as the co-valedictorian of South Oak Cliff High School Class of 59. She was a National Merit Scholar and the first person in her family to ever go to college. Linda attended Rice University in Houston, TX where she met her future husband of 50 years Alexander L. (Larry) Dean.

Linda and Larry were wed on July 23, 1961 in Dallas and then moved to St. Petersburg, FL. where their first child, Ema Lou Dean, was born in 1962. Following a move to Schenectady, NY, Alexander (Sandy) L. Dean was born in 1964. In 1965, Lindas third child, James Jefferson Dean, was born. After her three children were in school, Linda sold real estate and studied at State University New York - Albany. The family moved to Trumbull, CT for three years in the 1980s, and then in 1987, Linda completed her degree in Psychology with honors from Russell Sage College in Troy, NY.

Linda and Larry moved to Santa Rosa, CA in 1988, and she discovered all things California, in particular new age thinking. In 1998, they moved to Davis, CA where they resided at the time of her passing.

From 1990 to 2008, Linda Dean was the co-owner of K&M Bark & Sawdust, a trucking company based in Woodland, CA.

Following retirement Linda enjoyed: family especially grandchildren, friends, new age activities, her writing and acting classes, and recently discovered the joys of cruising.

Linda passed away suddenly on June 28, 2011 and is survived by her: husband (Larry), three children (Ema, Sandy and Jeff) and five grandchildren (Kyle, Ryan, Sarah, Thomas and Emma).

Visitation hours will be held from 5-7pm Friday July 1st at Wiscombe Funeral Home 116 D Street Davis, CA 95616 (530-758-5500).

A celebration of life service will be held at 4:00 pm Saturday July 2nd at the Davis Senior Center 646 A Street (Corner of Seventh and A Streets) Davis, CA 95616.
