Keith Reeves

Keith L. Reeves June 17, 1951 September 25, 2009

Keith L. Reeves passed away at his home in Davis, California on September 25, 2009, in the arms of his wife of 40 years. He was 58 years old. His death was unexpected, quick, and relatively painless. He worked hard and he played hard with a great sense of humor.

Keith was the youngest son in a family of 8 children, 7 boys and 1 girl. His mother Goldie Ruth Reeves was a formidable woman and she raised people of good character. When he had just turned 20 years old and he was expecting his second daughter, his 19 month old daughter was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. Without health insurance, their baby was denied admittance to the public welfare hospital because they were not single parents and Keith had a job. As a 20 year old father, Keith appealed to Kaiser Permanente Group to admit his baby daughter based upon his promise that he would successfully complete his 90 day probation period at his new job when he would be eligible for coverage. They agreed and his daughter was admitted that afternoon. She had surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation that began on August 25, 1971. Today, his daughter is 39 years old, healthy and a 4th grade teacher in the Sacramento Unified School District at Father Keith B. Kenny Elementary School in Oak Park. His second daughter was born 2 weeks after the radiation treatments were completed. She is 37 years old now and married to Eric Gillman. They gave Keith 2 beautiful grandchildren, Hunter, 5 years old and Payton 2 years old. His second daughter is the Marketing Director for an institutional investment firm in Century City, California.

Keith worked his way up to become the Procurement Manager for Tesoro Oil Refinery. He is a member of the Rancho Murieta Country Club and golfing was his passion. He moved to Davis in 1983. Keith was a family man, a good friend, a helpful neighbor, and an excellent employee. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Tsubokawa Reeves. A memorial service to celebrate his life will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 2, 2009, at the Veterans Memorial Center, 203 E. 14th Street, Davis, CA. All are welcome to attend and share Keith stories. Wear something red, his favorite color.
