James Robert Mehl, 75, of Davis, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loved ones on Saturday, June 30, 2007.
Jim was born October 13, 1931 in Chicago, Illinois to Fred and Dorothy Mehl. As a boy, Jim moved with family to Southern California, where he was raised. Jim was a military veteran who served in the National Guard and later in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He attended UCLA and majored in Business Administration before moving to Northern California in 1963. Jim settled in Davis, where he lived with his family for 37 years. He was an active member of the University Covenant Church and also had a passion for swimming, gardening, reading, helping others and enjoying his family.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Dorothy Mehl.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Yvonne; son Greg (Charlotte) Mehl of Winters, daughter Susan (David) Hyde of Winters; grandchildren: Meghan, Kevin, Carson and Isabella; sister, Donna Johnson of San Jose, California as well as numerous other family and friends.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at 1:00 P.M. at University Covenant Church; 315 Mace Blvd in Davis. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Jims memory to Yolo Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
