Harland H. Banninger, 87, of Davis, passed away peacefully Friday, August 7, 2015 in Woodland, after a lengthy bout with Alzheimer's disease.  He was born August 31, 1927 in Linn, Kansas to Frederich H. and Lettie A. Hoffman Banninger.  He has been an area resident since 1936 and a graduate of Davis High School, class of 1946.  Harland learned the carpentry trade from his father, a former contractor and excelled in carpentry and other hand crafts.  He worked as a body and fender repair worker for 45 years, primarily at Davis Auto Body.  He was a "Jack of all trades" and loved to hunt and fish.
 
 
 Harland is survived by his wife of 55 years, Rose Mello Banninger; his sister, Charlotte Wilson and her husband, William Wilson as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.
 
 
 A Memorial Mass will be held at Monday, August 31, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. at St. James Catholic Church (14th & B Streets) in Davis.
