Dora Ann Purvis, 75 years old, died December 12, 2008 at her home in Davis, California. She was born in Thomasville, Alabama to Mr. and Mrs. E.G. Gates.
Dora was a resident of Davis for 48 years and was employed by Hunt Wesson Foods, Inc. until her retirement in 1987. She was a wife and homemaker to Carlos Herman Purvis for 57 years. They raised two children, a son and a daughter. Dora was a member of the Reliable As of Sacramento, CA.
Dora was preceded in death by her parents; seven brothers; two sisters; son, Carlos Wayne Purvis and her husband, Carlos Herman Purvis.
Dora is survived by her Daughter, Debbie Purvis of Davis, CA; three grandsons: Justin and Jeremiah Purvis of Alaska and Carlos D. Purvis of Woodland, CA; sister, Nellrie Bateman of Hammond, Louisiana; sister Margaret Robinson and brother, Bradley Gates both of Mobile, Alabama; three great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
Graveside services will be held Friday, December 19, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at Davis Cemetery, 820 Pole Line Road under the direction of Wiscombes Davis Funeral Chapel.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Doras memory Yolo Hospice; P.O. Box 1014; Davis, CA 95617-1014.
