Cynthia Jonasen

Cynthia Ann Jonasen was born on March 4. 1944 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, the daughter of William J. and Marion Yacos Anderson. Her life ended abruptly in a tragic car accident in Davis, just a few minutes from her home.

A graduate of the University of Puget Sound, she worked as a social worker in Seattle, and as a juvenile probation officer in Yolo County. After retiring from the County, she worked in displays and sales at several downtown Davis stores.

Cynthia is survived by her husband, David Lewis Jonasen; daughters: Heather Linnea Jonasen and Kelly Andrea Jonasen; grandchildren: Kristina Rene Keen and Tyler Eldon Holladay; and sisters: Laurel Roberts of El Paso, TX and Alice Anderson of Charlottesville, VA.

A memorial service will celebrate her life at 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 7, at the Davis Presbyterian Chruch, 412 C Street in Davis with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to support King High, a continuation school in Davis, or the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

My deepest condolences to Cynthia's husband, daughters, and other family members. I had the privilege of working with her husband for many years and he often spoke fondly of his family. I especially recall him telling me about all the activities of Heather & Kelly. What a horrible shock and tragedy to have this happen. I am so very sorry. I am also sorry I missed her memorial service - I didn't see the notice until the next day. My thoughts are with all of you Jonasens during this saddest of times. Sincerely, Janet Mercurio

I was very saddened to read of Cynthia's passing. I purchased many items over many years at Discoveries for my nephew and niece, and later many items for a good friend's daughters at The Naturalist. At both shops, Cynthia was always a calm and smiling presence and most helpful to this customer who did not have kids. I will miss seeing her around Davis.
