Claudette Teresa Paz, 67, of Sacramento and formerly of Davis, passed away Sunday, December 11, 2011 in Sacramento. Claudette was born October 27, 1944 in Oakland, CA to Julie and Alfonso Velarde. She obtained her Bachelor's Degree from U.C. Berkeley, her teaching credentials from USF and her Masters in Special Education from Holy Names College in Oakland. Claudette loved her years teaching 3rd grade at CAC.sar Chaves Elementary School in Davis. Above all was the love of her family and children. Claudette's warm and gentle spirit was undeniable to all who came to know her. Claudette was preceded in death by son, Jason Paz in 2000 and her parents. Claudette is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, Rene Paz; children Lisa and Michael and her sister Ivy Velarde. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, December 16, 2011 at 11:30 A.M. at St. James Catholic Church, 14th and B Streets in Davis. Interment will be at Davis Cemetery.
