Carmen Mina-Sangervasi
Many things were memorable about Bernadette and to each person she touched they will remember a different piece of her. For some, it will be her uncanny ability to create a delicious meal out of anything, a point made very clear when on a camping trip she made bacon mac and cheese after an incident left her family with too much dried macaroni and bacon ranch dressing. For her children, it would be her love of learning, their fondest memories split between the many museums explored and trips to the local library, after which they would later recount the books they journeyed through to her joy. And for some, it will be the kindness, friendship and love she brought into their lives.
She is survived by her 8 children, Gabrielle, Christianni, Anthony, Joseph, Juliana, Sophia, Michael and Gemma.
Funeral services for Bernadette will be 6:00 PM on Friday, Aug. 19 for a rosary and visitation at Smith Funeral Home. There will be a Mass the following day at 11:00 AM on Saturday, Aug. 20 at St. James Church. Fr. Salvador will proceed over the service. For any who would like, please send flowers through Dixon Florist & Gift shop to Smith Funeral home.

We're so saddened to hear of Bernadette's passing. We had the pleasure of working with her and her very dedicated kids on the Relay For Life for a few years. Sending much Love and Light to all her family and friends. Susan and Josh Miller

Bernadette was a former coworker and friend. She was a wonderful and amazing person. I was invited to her home once for dinner. I saw first hand how she balanced her job and gave each one of her kids the love and attention they deserved. I had not seen Bernadette for a few years but will never forget her beautiful smile and faithful spirt. I am keeping her family in my thoughts and prayers.. Jesse Sarenana
