Carmen Mina-Sangervasi
Many things were memorable about Bernadette and to each person she touched they will remember a different piece of her. For some, it will be her uncanny ability to create a delicious meal out of anything, a point made very clear when on a camping trip she made bacon mac and cheese after an incident left her family with too much dried macaroni and bacon ranch dressing. For her children, it would be her love of learning, their fondest memories split between the many museums explored and trips to the local library, after which they would later recount the books they journeyed through to her joy. And for some, it will be the kindness, friendship and love she brought into their lives.
She is survived by her 8 children, Gabrielle, Christianni, Anthony, Joseph, Juliana, Sophia, Michael and Gemma.
Funeral services for Bernadette will be 6:00 PM on Friday, Aug. 19 for a rosary and viewing at Smith Funeral Homes. There will be a Mass the following day at 11:00 AM on Saturday, Aug. 20 at St. James Church. Fr. Salvador will proceed over the service. For any who would like, please send flowers through Dixon Florist & Gift shop to Smith Funeral home.

I got to know Bernadete through her kids who all help me in the yard and house - Anthony, Joe, Julie and Sophie. There work ethics, honesty, conscientiousness and cordial manner reflects on the great job Bernadete did as a mother. Happily, I was able to tell Bernadete many times what a great job her kids did working for me and how I hated to see each one leave for other employment. She said she was proud of all her kids. She was taken too soon with joys still to come on earth but I do believe she is watching over the family and will only be a thought away. Bernadete will be nestled in each one of her children's hearts forever. I hope if they read this they will know that we would so enjoy keeping in touch and love to have them ring our door bell anytime. 530-758-6570. I'm also not a bad cook and would enjoy any or all at our table. love, Nancy and Bob Ulrich
