Antonio De La O Collazo

December 16, 1925 — September 13, 2020

“Most Holy Mother, Virgin of Patronage, Save Me!”

Antonio de la O Collazo.
Born December 16, 1925, in a prosperous hacienda in the state of Zacatecas, Mexico, died September 13, 2020, peacefully at his home in Davis, California, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Maria de la O, by 7 children, 19 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. A patient husband and dotting father and grandfather, Antonio was a lifelong and proud farm worker who enjoyed a long, healthy and active retirement having retired permanently at age 67. He came to the US for the first time at the age of 19 under the Bracero seasonal worker program, became a permanent resident in 1960 and a US citizen in 1995.  Perennially good natured and with a healthy sense of humor, Antonio avoided conflict and enjoyed gardening and long walks well into his 90s. Even in his final days he kept tabs to make sure his plants were watered and his lawn mowed. He will be missed by his family and his friends.

Hasta sus ultimos dias estuvo pendiente que sus plantas se regaran y el pasto en su jardin fuera podado. Su familia y sus amigos extrañaran siempre su presencia amable y sosegada.
